In The Factory: A Pedagogical Narrative
‘In The Factory’ was a student manual written by Professor David M. Plum at the University of Wisconsin – Stout. With the information given to me firsthand, I was commissioned to design the cover of the manual as well as several chapter headings. Each design was meant to illustrate the content of the given chapter while also providing some color and levity.
Ink: Graphic Novel
As a part of my Senior Capstone Project, I developed the characters and story for an 80-page graphic novel titled ‘Ink’. The story follows Sarah, a young woman who develops super powers while struggling through her job search. In addition to acting as the sole guardian to her little brother, she’s now burdened with the responsibility of protecting her community.
This project was successfully crowd-funded to be independently printed, bound, and distributed at the University of Wisconsin – Stout 2017 Entertainment Design Senior Showcase.
Mike Kropp the Crimson Warrior: Comic Zine
‘Mike Kropp the Crimson Warrior’ was a collaboration between myself and Sociology Professor Nels Paulson at the University of Wisconsin – Stout. Together, we wrote the story of Mike Kropp: a friend, father, and real-life hero. This story commemorates Mike’s love for superheroes, Homer’s ‘Odyssey,’ and his family.
As a small, personal project for Nels and the Kropp family, I illustrated the cover and contents of the 30-page comic, and worked closely with a local vendor to print and bind the book for distribution. The book now acts as a tribute to Mike who passed away on April 2nd, 2017 after a long battle with brain cancer.
